New Order
We used to think that the day would never come (True Faith)... but it will! The fabulous, willful, extremely original, very influential and successful New Order will play the Grote Kaai on Friday, August 10th 2012.
As Joy Division, the band determined the sound (and vision) of new wave and post punk; after the death of Ian Curtis they resurrected as New Order and were at the birth of dance-rock fusion. Without them there would be no Depeche Mode, Chemical Brothers, Moby, Editors or Soulwax. Typical example of their willfulness: Blue Monday is still the best-selling 12" single of all time. They started the infamous Hacienda Club in the mid 80's, and therefore were at the start of the acid and rave culture (Laurent Garnier was the in-house dj) and the Madchester scene (Stone Roses, Happy Mondays). The movies "Control" (about Ian Curtis and Joy Division) and "24hourpartypeople" (about the genius Factory label) and their singles compilations are mandatory for each music lover.
After a long break they decided to start performing again at the end of 2011, this time without Peter Hook but, for the first time since 1993 with Gillian Gilbert. The 3 shows (in Brussels, Paris and London) sold out within minutes, and showed a rejuvenated band, who clearly enjoyed being on stage again, and bringing both New Order and Joy Division classics. This summer they will be headlining a.o. Summersonic (Japan), Benicassim (Spain) and Bestival (UK).
New Order are back. Dreams never end.
Line-up: Bernard Sumner, Stephen Morris, Gillian Gilbert, Phil Cunningham, Tom Chapman.

CELEBRATION - THE BEACH BOYS - 50
In 2012 The Beach Boys celebrate their 50th anniversay with a new record, a collector's box and a Celebration reunion tour of only 50 concerts; one of which will be in Lokeren on August 7 2012!
The uniqueness of this tour will be that all original, living, Beach Boys band members will share the stage to revive the fun and hits together with their fans.
Earlier this year, Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston and David Marks reconvened in the studio and recorded a new version of "Do it again" thinking 'Wouldn't it be nice to do it again? Absolutely!'; obviously, this was fantastic news for a lot of Beach Boys fans. None of those fans had ever dreamed that their idols would record an entire new album and start touring again. The fact that Brian Wilson will join the band on stage is the most thrilling news. The genius behind The Beach Boys left the live band in 1965 to concentrate on the composition and production of their music. After that Brian rarely joined the band on stage. The last recorded concert of the entire band dates back to 1980 at Knebworth.
In the summer of 1987 the Beach Boys played a steaming set on the beach of Knokke-Heist. 2 band members were not present on that day: drummer Dennis Wilson (the only Beach Boy who could actually surf, drowned a few years before) and Brian Wilson. But Carl, the third Wilson, spread his magic - together with Mike, Al and Bruce- across the Belgian beach and turned it into a Surfers Paradise! One year later Brian resurrected and, live on stage as well as in the recording studio, demanded his artistic place back in music history. New music as well as "Pet Sounds" (London 2002) and the never released classic "Smile" (Lokeren 2004) got a live debut. Regardless of how amazing these shows were, the public kept dreaming of a real Beach Boys reunion.
That dream seemed definitely shattered when Carl (the original lead singer of "Good vibrations" and "God only knows") died in 1998. But 50 years after their formation in Hawthorne California, the time has come: Brian, Mike, Al, Bruce and David are back for one whole summer filled with (surf) hits and a lot of fun. Prepare for an evening full of great atmosphere and timeless classics such as als 'I Get Around', ' California Girls', 'Surfer Girl', 'Help Me, Rhonda', 'Barbara Ann', 'Surfin' USA', 'Fun, Fun, Fun', 'Sloop John B', 'Wouldn't it be nice', 'God only Knows', 'Heroes and Villains', 'Do it Again', 'Kokomo' and 'Good Vibrations'.
